Sam Rayburn ISD
Sam Rayburn Independent School District (SRISD) is a public school district located in Ivanhoe, Texas, serving the communities of Ivanhoe, Telephone, and Elwood in north-central Fannin County. Established in 1964 through the consolidation of the North Fannin and Telephone districts, SRISD was named in honor of Sam Rayburn, the long-time Speaker of the United States House of Representatives who was from Fannin County. The district operates two campuses:
Sam Rayburn Elementary School: Serving students in grades Pre-K through 6.
Sam Rayburn High/Junior High School: Serving students in grades 7 through 12.
As of the 2021–2022 academic year, SRISD serves approximately 517 students, maintaining a student-to-teacher ratio of 10:1, which allows for personalized instruction and a supportive learning environment. The district is committed to providing a comprehensive education that prepares students for success in an ever-changing world. In 2009, SRISD was rated "exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency, reflecting its dedication to academic excellence.
